Bill Maher, a comedian and political commentator, poked fun at President Joe Biden for agreeing to debate former President Donald Trump. Maher also pointed out that it is unusual for presidential debates to take place in June, with the general election typically held in October. Biden had proposed the idea of holding the debates in a TV studio without a live audience. Trump, on the other hand, has not participated in any debates since losing to Biden in 2020, according to Biden.
The comedian speculated that Biden’s eagerness to debate early in the campaign season may indicate a lack of confidence in his own campaign. Maher suggested that only a “loser” would be so keen on debating at this stage.
