House Speaker Kevin McCarthy (R-CA) is set to shake things up in a closed-door conference meeting with Republicans this week. According to a source familiar with the plans, he will put forth the idea of launching an impeachment inquiry into President Joe Biden. Why? Well, McCarthy believes this is the next necessary step to obtain materials for the party’s investigations into possible corruption by the president and his son. And let’s be honest, there have been some fishy business dealings going on with the Bidens, so it’s about time someone takes action.
But McCarthy isn’t just pulling this idea out of thin air. He has the support of some powerful committee chairs, including House Judiciary Committee Chairman Jim Jordan (R-OH) and House Oversight Committee Chairman James Comer (R-KY). They have been tirelessly investigating the Biden family and have some serious concerns. McCarthy wants to make sure their efforts don’t go to waste, hence the push for an impeachment inquiry.

Now, not everyone in the GOP is on board with this idea. Some rank-and-file Republicans have been urging McCarthy to take action, even threatening to remove him from his leadership position if he doesn’t comply. One such lawmaker is Rep. Matt Gaetz (R-FL), who made his intentions clear on social media. Gaetz even reached out to Rep. Eric Swalwell (D-CA) to see if he could count on any Democratic support for his cause. Talk about crossing party lines!
The fact is, McCarthy is in a tough spot. Some Republicans are demanding an impeachment inquiry into Biden as a condition for their support on government spending legislation. And let’s not forget that the government is set to run out of money in just 17 days. Yikes! But not all GOP members are on board with this idea. Some vulnerable Republicans are hesitant to jump on the impeachment train. It’s a tough call for McCarthy, but one thing’s for sure, action needs to be taken to get to the bottom of any potential corruption by our president.
