The relentless stream of headlines claiming everything from rifts between Musk and Secretary of State Marco Rubio to wild rumors of his eviction from the Department of Government Efficiency seem almost ritualistic. It’s as if they believe they can conjure up a feud purely through wishful thinking.
Despite the media’s efforts to create drama, Musk and Trump appear to be quite cozy. Just this past Saturday, Musk was spotted attending UFC 314 in Miami with Trump and his posse, looking like old friends rather than rivals. Those who expected hostility are clearly barking up the wrong tree, as it seems the rumors of a “bromance gone sour” are falling flat.

The latest focus for the media is a supposed spat between Musk and Peter Navarro, the White House Senior Counselor for Trade. This development sparked some speculative chatter, particularly after Musk referred to Navarro as a “moron” due to their differing views on tariffs. While this might have raised a few eyebrows, the White House handled it with a nonchalant attitude. Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt brushed off the situation, reinforcing that differing opinions among advisors are commonplace, with a light-hearted acknowledgment that “boys will be boys.”
Navarro himself is taking the whole affair in stride, claiming he’s been called far worse. The two don’t align on trade perspectives; Musk advocates for zero tariffs, while Navarro champions the notion of reciprocal tariffs to balance trade, especially with nations like China. However, this fundamental disagreement doesn’t appear to be causing any real friction between the two men, as they both recognize the importance of their respective roles in the Trump administration.
The truth is, Musk and Navarro operate in distinctly separate arenas; one is innovating in space and technology while the other is knee-deep in trade policy. Trump has always welcomed varying viewpoints among his advisors, and for now, this seems to be yet another episode of the media grasping at straws.
For the left, Musk’s effectiveness is a thorn in their side, and they are fervently trying to manufacture a narrative that would portray him in a negative light. The incessant attempts to undermine this unlikely alliance between Musk and Trump only demonstrate their desperation as they concoct stories of division.
