In a world where privilege should mean responsibility, Meghan Markle is busy proving that unearned luxury doesn’t teach basic decency. The so-called Duchess of Sussex is at the center of yet another scandal. This time, she is accused of taking a $1,700 designer dress from a photoshoot without asking—a shining example of entitlement.
Remember, this is a woman living in a sprawling $15 million mansion, having bagged mega deals worth millions, yet she can’t resist pocketing a dress from a photoshoot. Instead of responsibly borrowing—and returning—designer dresses like every other celebrity, her team spins this as ‘archiving’ her clothing. Stunningly hypocritical considering she’s kicked plenty of pomp and tradition to the curb. Apparently, Meghan’s ‘archiving’ is just code for keeping up appearances in her Netflix reality show, which couldn’t exist without her constant royal-bashing.

One has to wonder if that $1,700 dress is just a detail in her bigger strategy of staying relevant by poking at the royal hornet’s nest. Isn’t it ironic how she whines about oppression by the royal family while calling shotgun on their wealth? This is yet another tick in the long list of Markle’s moves that aim to monetize her royal links while dragging the family she claims to detest. It smacks of utter hypocrisy and reveals a side of her that is more calculating than candid.
What’s more depressing is the way Prince Harry has been roped into this farce. His tale is a masterclass in marrying wisely—or rather, not doing so. They’ve turned the once prestigious royal family into a cheap spectacle of fame-chasing soundbites. While Meghan parades in alleged stolen attire, they’ve debased royal dignity to “Walmart with a crown,” a phrase aptly coined by her own estranged father.
The fairy tale story of a prince and an actress has morphed into a soap opera about excess and self-interest. While Kate Middleton shines as a beacon of elegance and class, Meghan’s antics show just how far they’ve fallen. So, with all this vanity and ambition disguised as supposed activism, the question remains: does Meghan Markle deserve sympathy for being misunderstood, or applause for her shameless publicity stunts?
