Former First Lady Melania Trump’s absence from the current political scene has not escaped the attention of keen political observers. While Mrs. Trump has maintained a low profile, her camp has responded to criticisms by highlighting a perceived difference between her and First Lady Jill Biden.
Stephanie Grisham, former first lady’s White House press secretary and chief-of-staff, recently conveyed a remark made by Mrs. Trump in March to the Daily Mail. Grisham shared that Melania Trump remarked, “I don’t need to stand by Donald like Jill Biden; it is like she’s holding Joe Biden up.”

Since her husband’s departure from office in January 2021, Mrs. Trump has made limited appearances at political events, notably at a rally in Mar-a-Lago to support Mr. Trump’s campaign kick-off and at a polling station during the midterm elections. Additionally, she has been involved in organizing fundraisers for the Log Cabin Republicans.
Sources suggest Mrs. Trump intends to prioritize spending time with her son Barron and may remain out of the public eye if her husband secures reelection. Plans include potential frequent visits to NYC should Barron attend college there.
In contrast, reports suggest that First Lady Jill Biden has taken on a more hands-on role with President Biden, being physically involved in assisting him off stages and reportedly assuming the role of his “stage manager” to guide him during public appearances. These reports, highlighting a more active and direct involvement in the president’s public interactions, serve to juxtapose the approaches of the current and former first ladies.
