A horrific attack on innocent children at prayer has shaken Minneapolis to its core. Two young students, just 8 and 10 years old, were gunned down while attending Mass at the Church of the Annunciation on Wednesday morning. Eighteen other people were wounded when the shooter opened fire through church windows during what should have been a sacred moment of worship.
The gunman, identified as 23-year-old Robin Westman, used three legally purchased firearms to carry out this evil act before taking his own life. Federal authorities are now investigating this as both domestic terrorism and an anti-Catholic hate crime. This wasn’t some random act of violence – this was a targeted attack on people of faith.
The timing of this attack makes it even more sickening. These children were attending a special Mass to mark the beginning of the school year. Instead of starting their education with hope and joy, families are now planning funerals for their babies.
What’s truly disturbing is how investigators found hateful phrases and references to other mass shooters on the gunman’s weapons. The shooter also created videos that were scheduled to post online, showing this was planned and deliberate. This monster wanted to spread his hatred beyond just his immediate victims.
Mayor Jacob Frey’s response shows how out of touch liberal leaders really are. Instead of focusing on the victims, he immediately jumped to defend the transgender community, saying people shouldn’t “villainize” them. Nobody was even talking about that – these families just lost their children.
The shooter fired dozens of rounds and tried to barricade church doors to trap his victims inside. These weren’t just random shots – this was calculated evil designed to cause maximum harm to innocent worshippers.
Now we learn this attack is being treated as an anti-Catholic hate crime. Christians across America have been under attack for years, and our leaders have mostly ignored it. When will politicians finally admit that people of faith need protection from this growing hatred.
