This isn’t a small administrative hiccup; federal authorities are on the ground because local officials allegedly dropped the ball for years while the losses piled up.
Governor Walz has offered a public response promising accountability and saying he will fix the problem, but words will not repair broken systems or reimburse the taxpayers who foot the bill for this failure.
