Mitt Romney SLAMS Biden’s ‘F’ grade border policies

Mitt Romney was a force to be reckoned with at the Senate Homeland Security and Governmental Affairs Committee hearing on Tuesday, as he challenged DHS Secretary Alejandro Mayorkas on the Biden administration’s unrealistic “root causes” approach to the border crisis. Romney called out Mayorkas on the administration’s plan to fix the issues in all of Latin America, saying “come on guys, this is taking our eye off the ball.” He even attempted to get Mayorkas to assign a letter grade to the current state of border security, which he refused to do. But Romney wasn’t afraid to give a grade of his own, establishing that the border security was an ‘F’ in his opinion – a grade which could not be argued with.

Mayorkas didn’t fare much better under questioning from other Republican Senators, such as Josh Hawley, who tore apart Mayorkas’ excuse-making and blamed the Biden administration for the horrific human consequences of its pro-illegal immigration policies. The New York Times’ report highlighted the brutal reality of child labor in the US, with more than 250,000 migrant children coming alone to the United States over the past two years. The Times’ investigation exposed that thousands of children had been working overnight in slaughterhouses, replacing roofs, and operating machinery in factories all in violation of child labor laws. After the article’s publication in February, the White House announced policy changes and a crackdown on companies that hire children. Still, the warning signs were ignored by the Biden administration, and nothing was done to protect the children of migrants.

As the administration scrambled to clear shelters that were strained beyond capacity, children were released with little support to sponsors who expected them to take on grueling, dangerous jobs. The reality is that the Democrats don’t care about the welfare of these children; their top priority was to make the fleeting political problem of bad optics go away by pushing more illegal immigrants into the country without any vetting.

Thanks to the Biden administration’s atrocious border policies, the cartels are now making an estimated $13 billion annually through this trafficking business, up from $500 million in 2018. Customs and Border Patrol just released the new March statistics, showing more than 6,000 illegal aliens per day crossing our borders, making it the second-highest total for the month of March in more than two decades. We are approaching the 6.5 million illegal crossings mark on Joe Biden’s watch, including nearly 1.5 million known ‘got-aways.’ Despite Biden’s claim that they’ve gotten control of the border crisis, the mark was never surpassed even once during the Trump administration. Romney’s ‘F’ is a well-deserved grade that highlights the complete and utter failure of the Biden administration’s border policies.
