Mullin tied the enforcement push to broader national-security decisions and the unfolding budget standoff that briefly tipped the government into a partial shutdown.
What conservatives are calling a pivot is nothing more than enforcing the laws Congress already passed — deploying federal assets and ICE to target criminal networks and illegal entries in cities that have sheltered lawlessness for too long. The administration’s operations in Minneapolis and other hotspots have been controversial, but they reflect a clear choice to restore order and protect American communities rather than let open-borders politics prevail.
Predictably, Democrats turned this necessary law enforcement into a political cudgel, refusing to back DHS funding unless sweeping restrictions are written first, a move that provoked a short, avoidable lapse in coverage for homeland security programs. Instead of standing with law enforcement and victims, many in the party chose theatrics and headline-seeking over keeping government running and borders secure.
At the same time President Trump signaled that America will not be weak abroad, announcing a major naval deployment toward Iran to back up tough diplomacy and make clear that nuclear ambition and brutality toward protesters come with consequences. That blend of “peace through strength” — using credible force as leverage while demanding negotiations — is the posture conservatives have been urging for years.
Patriots should see the pattern: decisive action at home against illegal immigration and unflinching resolve abroad are not reckless posturing but the restoration of American strength. The choice is simple — back leaders who secure borders and deter adversaries, or keep rewarding politicians who put politics ahead of public safety and national sovereignty.
