Jake Tapper’s new book on President Biden’s mental decline reveals the truth that many conservatives have recognized for years: the “Original Sin” did not just begin with Biden’s disastrous decision to run for reelection in 2024. It started long before, as early as 2015, when his cognitive abilities began to fade following his son’s tragic death. This reality raises an essential question: why did the media and Biden’s inner circle allow such an unfit candidate to run for president in the first place?
The book presents evidence that suggests a significant cognitive decline was already evident during Biden’s 2020 campaign. Yet, this was aggressively concealed from the public. Media outlets, including CNN and outlets that tout themselves as the so-called “watchdogs of democracy,” either ignored or downplayed Biden’s struggles. Instead, we witnessed a blatant use of language manipulation to gaslight the American populace into believing that Biden was fit to lead. The press’s complicity makes them just as culpable in this scenario.
The very notion that Biden’s deteriorating state would only become apparent in late 2023 and 2024 comes as a slap in the face to those who rightly questioned his fitness throughout 2020. The book shows that Biden struggled to remember even the most basic details in 2019 and 2020. He seemed lost on stage, faltering through speeches and town halls, and his aides whispered in concern about his mental state. Yet the same media that celebrated his candidacy turned a blind eye, fearing that admitting the truth would hand Trump an upper hand. This is nothing short of hypocrisy.

What the book inadvertently underscores is how the Democratic establishment and the legacy media collaborated to present a version of Biden that conveniently sidestepped the awkward fact of his diminishing cognitive faculties. With Democrats fearing Trump more than the consequences of nominating a faltering leader, they shackled their ambitions to this failing candidate. This reckless gamble ultimately placed the nation’s future at risk.
The real danger is that the Democratic establishment is still peddling the same half-truths and political correctness that masked Biden’s mental decline over the last several years. They refuse to acknowledge their complicity in putting a mentally compromised individual in the Oval Office. Instead of focusing on the nation’s pressing problems, they trivialize any concerns raised about Biden’s mental fitness.
It’s time for voters to hold those responsible for this debacle accountable. The media’s reluctance to scrutinize Biden’s capabilities during the 2020 election emboldens political forces that threaten the fabric of our democracy. And as the lines blur further between truth and artificial narratives spun by the left, the American people deserve a leader who is capable of guiding this nation—and they must not settle for anything less.
