Investigators also uncovered handwritten notes from September 2016 referencing a “HRC plan to tie Trump,” along with what prosecutors describe as the original intelligence referral that warned of an effort to invent a Trump-Russia narrative. Those notes were reportedly found inside Room 9582 alongside pages pulled from burn bags, evidence the DOJ says prior teams never had. The discovery of these documents blows open the notion that Comey had no recollection of being briefed on such matters.
Comey’s defense has asked a judge to dismiss the indictment as selective and vindictive, claiming presidential animus and First Amendment protections. The Justice Department sharply rejected that theory, stressing a duly convened grand jury found probable cause and arguing Comey has not met the heavy burden required to prove vindictive or selective prosecution. This is a courtroom, not a hashtag campaign, and the DOJ has told the judge it intends to see the case through.
Patriots who watched the FBI’s politicization in real time should not be surprised by these revelations; Comey ran a double standard when he publicly excoriated Hillary Clinton while privately using a personal account to manage narratives.
