Newsom Jets to Munich, Ignores California’s Crisis

Governor Gavin Newsom flew to Munich and took the international stage to lecture Americans about leadership and climate while casually assuring his European audience that “Donald Trump is temporary” — a performance piece that played to foreign elites but exposed him to ridicule back home. Reporters noted that Newsom used the Munich Security Conference to attack the administration’s policies and posture, an odd choice for a governor whose own backyard is on fire with policy failures.

This isn’t a harmless gaffe; it’s the same pattern we’ve seen for years — California’s governor jets overseas to score political points while the state he governs sinks under soaring crime, homelessness, and fiscal mismanagement. Conservative commentators and hosts rightly called out the spectacle, pointing out the hypocrisy of an official who lectures the world but can’t keep order in his own cities.

The latest outrage came when out-of-state posturing extended to the most sensitive national-security issue of all: immigration enforcement. Fox’s Outnumbered co-host Emily Compagno publicly slammed Newsom for attacking ICE and for treating federal law-enforcement operations as political theater, insisting that protecting agents and enforcing the law must come first. Compagno’s blistering reaction reflects a growing conservative anger that Democrats will cheerlead protests and hollow moralizing while federal agents face real danger doing their jobs.

Hardworking Americans see through this: we want secure borders, accountable government, and leaders who govern rather than grandstand. The left’s reflexive defense of sanctuary policies and posture politics endangers public safety and undermines the rule of law, and it is exactly the kind of soft-on-crime, open-borders ideology Compagno and others are rightly pushing back against. Voters should remember who stands with law-abiding citizens and who stands with chaotic virtue-signaling.

If Newsom wants to lecture allies in Germany, fine — but first he should answer for his record in California, stop treating federal law enforcement as a political prop, and stop exporting his partisanship to the world stage. America needs governors who defend American citizens, respect law enforcement, and put the nation first, not politicians who chase headlines in Munich while leaving towns at home to rot. The American people deserve better, and conservatives will keep holding these hypocrites to account until they do.
