Are you ready for an exclusive summer writing program that comes with a special set of rules? Well, if you’re white, you can forget about it. A New York professor named Jenn M. Jackson is offering a writing workshop this summer, but there’s a catch – only black students are allowed. Talk about segregation!
Jackson’s program, organized by Colored Convos Media, has a mission to support black and queer content creators. Now, there’s nothing wrong with supporting marginalized communities, but shouldn’t a writing program be open to everyone, regardless of their race? Apparently not in today’s world.
Not only do you have to be black to join, but you also have to give honor to queer and trans people. It seems like the professor wants to create a safe space for a specific group of individuals, which is fine, but why exclude others based on their race? This kind of identity politics only deepens the divide in our society.
It’s worth mentioning that the sessions are only three weeks long and cost $40 per session or $75 for both. It seems like a good deal, but the requirement to honor a certain group of people is questionable, to say the least. Shouldn’t writing workshops be about honing your skills and expressing your ideas freely, rather than adhering to a specific ideology?

This exclusive summer writing program highlights a growing trend of racial and identity-based segregation. It seems that in the name of diversity and inclusion, we are actually creating more division and exclusion. If we truly want unity and equality, we need to move away from these divisive practices and focus on promoting opportunities for all individuals, regardless of their race or identity.
In the end, it’s unfortunate to see academia becoming a breeding ground for identity politics. Instead of embracing diversity of thought and ideas, some professors are pushing their own agendas and excluding those who don’t fit their narrative. It’s time to break free from these restrictions and truly embrace inclusivity and equality for all.
