Rumors have long swirled about tension between the Obama and Biden camps, and now it appears the “Obama Bros” are not holding back in their criticism of President Biden. On their latest “Pod Save America” episode, Jon Favreau, Jon Lovett, and Tommy Vietor laid into Biden for his lackluster performance in the June 27 presidential debate and subsequent interview with George Stephanopoulos.
Vietor didn’t hold back, describing the Stephanopoulos interview as “bad” and “very hard to watch,” expressing concern over Biden’s struggles to communicate clearly. Lovett echoed these sentiments, pointing out the lack of coherent messaging from Biden and questioning his ability to make up for his debate performance going forward, especially as recent polls show him trailing Trump in key swing states.

The “Obama Bros” weren’t shy about their disappointment in Biden’s performance, with Lovett labeling the interview as “painful to watch” and criticizing Biden for failing to articulate why he’s in the race and why he’s the best candidate to beat Trump. It’s clear that these former Obama advisors are not pulling punches when it comes to critiquing the current president.
In the midst of all this criticism, it’s hard not to see the irony in the situation. After years of the liberal media trying to cover up for Biden’s shortcomings, it seems like even his own allies are starting to acknowledge his struggles. With Biden facing challenges on multiple fronts, including doubts about his ability to defeat Trump, it remains to be seen how he will respond to this latest round of criticism from within his own party.
