The never-ending saga of Obamacare continues to expose the deep flaws of liberal policymaking. Now, Democrats like Senator Jeanne Shaheen want us to believe that piling on more subsidies is not a sign of failure but rather some sort of continued “progress.” This is classic left-wing spin – deny the obvious collapse of a deeply flawed system and instead call for even more government handouts. The truth is that Obamacare was always a disaster, and no amount of cheap political talking points can change that.
For years, Democrats have insisted the Affordable Care Act would make health care affordable and accessible for all Americans. But here we are, begging for emergency fixes to patch up catastrophic premium hikes and dwindling insurer participation. When Fox News pressed Shaheen on whether the need for extra subsidies is proof that Obamacare is broken, she flat-out refused to admit it. Instead, she pointed to New Hampshire’s narrow example of supposed improvements — four years of slightly fewer uninsured people and marginal premium drops. But what her rosy narrative ignores is the massive government bailout behind those “successes” and the crushing burden placed on hardworking Americans who don’t qualify for handouts.

Let’s be clear: the demand for more subsidies is not a sign that Obamacare is working; it’s proof it was doomed from the start. By rigging the market with taxpayer dollars to prop up failing insurance companies, Democrats have turned health care into an endless money pit. It’s a socialist scheme dressed up as compassion, but it punishes the middle class and incentivizes dependency. Meanwhile, the system remains a nightmare for those Americans who don’t get enough help to afford their premiums, deductibles, or out-of-pocket expenses. Shaheen claims she wants Republicans and the president to “come to the table” to fix things, but the real issue is that Democrats refuse to scrap this broken law and start fresh.
Where is the outrage over a government program that funnels trillions into bureaucracy while delivering less choice and less care? The liberals’ playbook is predictable: create a problem with big government, then demand more spending to “fix” it. That’s not governance; it’s a con game that destroys American values of self-reliance and personal responsibility. Our health care system needs less government interference, not endless subsidies and mandates that drive up prices and limit freedom.
It’s time we stop pretending the Affordable Care Act is a success story. It’s a cautionary tale of liberal hubris, globalist influence, and bureaucratic overreach. If Democrats truly cared about health care, they would repeal Obamacare and unleash market-based solutions that empower patients and lower costs. Instead, they double down on failure — sacrificing taxpayers and the American dream along the way. When will voters wake up and demand leadership that puts America first, rather than endless government handouts propping up a collapsing system?
