Pam Bondi Urges Congress to Prioritize Confirming Trump’s Nominees Over Recess

On a recent episode of Fox News Channel’s “Ingraham Angle,” Attorney General Pam Bondi laid down the law, calling on Congress to ditch the vacation vibes and focus on the serious business of confirming President Trump’s nominees. The notion that lawmakers could shrug off their responsibilities and hit the road for two weeks in April — an act that would make any dutiful American worker cringe — was met with an eye roll from Bondi.

When host Laura Ingraham pointed out the impending congressional recess, the response was quite clear: it’s time to put work before play. Bondi underscored the necessity of having all of Trump’s nominees confirmed, citing issues of public safety and effective governance. Apparently, this is lost on Congress, which seems to consider a two-week holiday to be more pressing than filling critical positions.

The festivities of spring 2023 are not for the faint of heart in Washington, and Bondi rightfully cautioned that the clock is ticking on getting qualified individuals into office. Each day that passes without fully staffed positions is just another day Americans are left vulnerable. It’s as if Congress believes they can take a long break without considering the repercussions it has on the safety and well-being of citizens.

Bondi also showered praise on Senate Majority Leader John Thune’s efforts, while hinting that Democrats might just need a little extra pressure to come around. The idea of keeping them in session over the weekend to squeeze a few extra confirmations certainly raises the eyebrows. The message is clear: do your job or be ready for a very long weekend at the office.

As laughter at the idea of Congress taking their sweet time rings through the airwaves, it underscores a glaring issue—Americans need to see their elected officials committed to the role they signed up for. So, as the sun begins to set on countless afternoons of absence, the need for accountability becomes all the more critical. Congress needs to remember that it isn’t their vacation but their constituents who deserve the real break here, one granted by a well-functioning government.
