While the Democrats were busy lauding themselves, former President Trump was not sitting idly by. Seizing the opportunity, he released a blistering thirty-second ad on Truth Social, targeting Harris’ past decisions as California’s Attorney General, suggesting that her record included radical policies that put violent criminals back on the streets. With newly unearthed examples of criminal releases leading to tragic outcomes, the GOP clearly has no shortage of material to wield against the current administration. From Walz’s questionable military service claims to Harris’ own awkward public interactions, there are plenty of angles for the Republicans to expose Democratic failings in the lead-up to the elections.
As the political landscape gets increasingly bizarre and unpredictable, it’s unclear whether the Democrats will be able to navigate the twilit waters of their own party as effectively as they’d like.
