Donald Trump’s favorability is soaring past Joe Biden’s presidency by a hefty 10 percentage points, according to a new USA Today poll. The poll is part of a growing trend showing Trump’s appeal skyrocketing particularly after Biden’s recent debate flail. It’s almost as if folks are starting to remember just how good we had it under The Donald.
One eye-catching detail is the newfound nostalgia for Trump’s presidency, a sharp contrast to when he left office. For the first time since Trump exited the Oval Office, more than half of the respondents expressed their approval of his leadership. It seems that the chaotic episodes we’re living through now are making the Trump years look like the good old days.

Back in January 2021, FiveThirtyEight handed Trump an average approval rating of 38.6% as he left office. Fast forward three-and-a-half years, and Biden’s litany of failures on domestic and international fronts has triggered a surge in people longing for Trump’s leadership. The numbers speak for themselves, and they spell out Biden’s dwindling popularity.
Another poll revealed that most memories of the so-called chaotic parts of Trump’s administration have faded into insignificance. With global and domestic mayhem reigning under Biden, the good ol’ days of Trump’s presidency are being remembered for economic prosperity and strong national security. When voters look back, they associate Trump with a booming economy and robust immigration policies, hardly remembering the less significant issues like the Jan. 6 riot or the pandemic.
In this head-to-head, Trump edges out Biden slightly, 41% to 38%, a sign that more Americans are seeing through the media narrative and longing for competent leadership. The poll, which surveyed 1,000 registered voters, suggests that maybe, just maybe, America might be ready to make the smart choice come election season.
