Portland organizers quietly announced that the city’s long-running Veterans Day parade has been canceled for 2025, robbing local veterans of the public salute they deserve on Nov. 11, 2025. This is not a small scheduling problem; it’s a glaring abdication of civic responsibility when honoring service should be the easiest thing a city can do.
Organizers blamed the cancellation on a failure to secure sponsors and funding, an embarrassing explanation coming from a city that finds money for pet projects and political signaling but somehow not for veterans. Compounding the outrage, city alerts and local messaging until recently suggested the parade would go ahead, creating confusion and the appearance of incompetence or indifference from civic leaders.

Conservatives know that patriotism is built in the streets and in the rituals we pass on to the next generation, not in press releases and virtue signaling.
Organizers say they intend to return in 2026, but words won’t be enough this time; they need real commitments and accountability from city hall. Portland voters and patriots across Oregon should demand tangible plans and pledged funding so this never happens again. The failure to honor veterans this year is a wake-up call — hold leaders to account and restore the respect our servicemen and women earned.
