Pritzker Disrespects Veterans by Attacking Law Enforcement on Holiday

On Veterans Day, as Americans gathered to honor those who served, Illinois Gov. J.B. Pritzker chose to use the holiday for cheap political theater — mocking Border Patrol Chief Greg Bovino as a “snowflake” while lecturing law enforcement. That kind of disrespect for our men and women in uniform is shameful, especially coming from a governor who would rather score partisan points than stand with communities that want safety.

Greg Bovino has been the on-the-ground face of a federal effort to restore order in Chicago, leading what officials call Operation Midway Blitz and overseeing thousands of arrests of people suspected of violating immigration laws. He’s openly defended aggressive tactics against violent criminal elements and pushed back at local leaders who flirt with sanctuary cover for lawbreakers, arguing politicians’ rhetoric can put agents’ lives at risk.

When Pritzker publicly tried to humiliate him, Bovino answered — not with ego, but with a challenge to join him in the neighborhoods where agents are doing the hard work to protect citizens. That response, aired on conservative outlets, exposed the truth: the federal teams aren’t doing publicity stunts for cable ratings, they’re enforcing the law while mayors and governors debate optics.

Make no mistake, this fight is not a personality clash — it is a battle over whether Americans get to feel safe in their own streets. The same liberal officials who lecture about “compassion” have turned a blind eye to crime and cartel influence, forcing federal agents to step in where local leaders won’t. Those agents have faced rocks, glass, chemical attacks, and even bounties; they deserve a governor who supports them, not one who sneers at their sacrifice.

Pritzker’s attempt to score points on Veterans Day is especially galling because it shifts attention away from victims of crime and toward political spin. America’s veterans and law-abiding citizens don’t want governors taking selfies while neighborhoods are under siege; they want policies that secure borders and back the men who enforce them. Governors who side with activists over safety are choosing ideology over the people they were elected to protect.

Even as critics howl, federal officials say they will keep a presence where it’s needed, and reports suggest Bovino and his teams may rotate out but the mission continues — because law and order matter more than headlines. Local prosecutors and liberal politicians can grandstand, but the rest of the country sees what’s happening: communities terrorized by gangs and cartels demand action, not virtue signaling.

Patriots should be clear-eyed: the real insults to veterans are weak leadership and the weaponization of holidays for political smears. Stand with the agents who risk their lives to protect our families, and reject the performative politics that put those agents in greater danger while pretending to care about communities. If Pritzker wants to prove he cares about Illinoisans, he’ll stop the cheap shots and start helping restore safety and pride to his state.
