Illinois Governor JB Pritzker just signed a dangerous new law that puts government bureaucrats between parents and their children. The Democrat governor made Illinois the first state to force mental health screenings on kids as young as third grade. This is nothing more than another power grab by liberal politicians who think they know better than mom and dad.
Starting in 2027, every public school student from grades 3 through 12 must get annual mental health screenings. The state claims these screenings are free, but nothing from government is ever truly free. Hardworking taxpayers will foot the bill for this massive expansion of government control over our children.
Parents across Illinois are rightfully outraged by this assault on their fundamental rights. For generations, American families have raised their children according to their own values and beliefs. Now liberal politicians want to insert themselves into the most personal aspects of child-rearing under the guise of helping kids.
This screening program is just another way for left-wing ideologues to push their radical agenda on innocent children. Who decides what constitutes good mental health in these screenings? Will kids be labeled as troubled for holding traditional conservative values or religious beliefs?
The timing of this law is no coincidence. Democrats are desperate to expand their influence over American families at every level. They started with critical race theory and gender ideology in classrooms, and now they want direct access to our children’s minds through mandatory psychological evaluations.
Real conservatives know that parents, not government officials, should decide what is best for their own children. The state has no business conducting psychological evaluations on kids without explicit parental consent. This violates the sacred bond between parent and child that has been the foundation of American families for centuries.
Governor Pritzker and his liberal allies claim this is about helping kids with anxiety and depression. But if that were true, why make it mandatory? Parents who want mental health services for their children already have that option without government force.
This law represents everything wrong with big government liberalism today. Instead of trusting parents and supporting families, Democrats want to create another layer of bureaucracy that interferes with how we raise our children. Patriots must stand up and fight back against this unprecedented government overreach before it spreads to other states.
