The Pulitzer Prize, once again, disappoints with its recognition of lackluster journalism. This week, we have seen a consistent trend of negative media coverage towards the great Governor Ron DeSantis. Axios, for example, targeted Florida’s law aimed to put a stop to illegal activity, describing it as vague and doing harm to the immigrant community. The press, as always, only seems to criticize when it comes from the right side of the political spectrum.

A great example of this media bias is MSNBC’s Morning Joe show that tried to ridicule Ron DeSantis by finding events that had drawn a larger audience. However, the fact remains that DeSantis still drew in over 300,000 listeners. Politifact, too, continues to perpetuate the lie that Florida is banning books without acknowledging that these book selections have been for elementary school students that some argue are not age-appropriate.

Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis downplayed the effect of a new law he signed that sets procedures for school districts to review library books. He said the state hasn’t banned a “single book,” but some books have been removed or restricted in multiple districts. https://t.co/3iV2uunOhA

DeSantis keeps pronouncing his name differently on the trail.
It’s Dee-Santis in his 2024 announcement video and an SC radio interview
It’s Deh-Santis in other interviews

One of the most embarrassing moments in journalism was during the George Floyd riots in 2020, where CNN’s Omar Jiminez was standing before a burning building, reading “Mostly Peaceful Protest.” Yet, astonishingly, the network is currently displaying a promo of their reporters’ fieldwork, which includes Jiminez covering a skirmish in Minneapolis in the same year, once again pushing the false narrative of peaceful protests.
Axios continues its weak and unsubstantiated attack on Governor DeSantis, uncritically taking the bait from the Donald Trump camp regarding the pronunciation of DeSantis’s surname. Meanwhile, a temple in Thailand erects statues with large gold genitalia, which makes as much sense as this kind of journalism.
The biased media continues to engage in sub-exalted performances. Unfortunately, they are awarded with Pulitzer Prizes. It is no wonder that most citizens have no trust in journalists when these are the types of stories they cover.
