Twenty-four years ago today, evil struck America on our own soil. Radical Islamic terrorists murdered 2,977 innocent Americans in the worst attack our nation has ever faced. But on this solemn anniversary, we remember the heroes who ran toward danger when everyone else ran away.
Three brave first responders shared their memories on American Agenda this week. Michael Taylor, former NYPD Detective Pat Brosnan, and NYPD Chief of Department John Chell reminded us what real courage looks like. These men put their lives on the line to save others without thinking twice about their own safety.
The images from that terrible day still burn in our hearts. The Twin Towers falling, the Pentagon in flames, and brave souls fighting back on Flight 93 over Pennsylvania. America watched in horror as our enemies tried to break our spirit and destroy our way of life.
But they failed miserably because they underestimated the American spirit. Our first responders, firefighters, police officers, and everyday citizens showed the world what true heroism means. They proved that good will always triumph over evil when people stand together.
These brave men and women deserve our eternal gratitude and respect. Many paid the ultimate price that day, and many more have suffered health problems from their heroic service. We owe them everything, and we must never let politicians forget their sacrifice.
The liberal media loves to forget who really attacked us that day. It was radical Islamic terrorists who declared war on America and our values. We cannot let political correctness erase the truth about who our enemies are and what they want to do to us.
America emerged stronger from that dark day because we are a nation blessed by God. We came together as one people, united in our love of freedom and our determination to fight back. That same spirit lives on in patriots across this great country today.
We must never forget September 11th or the lessons it taught us about American strength. Our first responders showed the world that Americans do not bow to terrorists or surrender to fear. We honor their memory by staying strong, staying united, and staying proud to be Americans.
