Retired Border Patrol Chief Blasts Biden on Border Crisis

The wave of unchecked immigration at the southern border is not just a crisis; it’s a full-blown national disaster, and yes, Michigan is feeling the heat too. A freshly retired Border Patrol chief has blown the whistle on this administration’s utter failure to protect American borders. With over 27 years on the job and having served under five presidents, former Chief Chris Clem has seen it all, and he’s not holding back.

As part of the “Secure Borders, Secure America” tour by Americans for Prosperity, Clem issued a stark warning for Michigan. Promoted to Yuma Sector chief in December 2020, Clem had a front-row seat to what he describes as the complete disintegration of a once-secure border. Ah, the good old days of border security, seemingly eons ago before Biden waltzed into office and reversed every effective policy within mere days. Clem highlights the skyrocketing numbers: from 400,000 arrests to an insane 2.2 million. Clearly, that’s not just a coincidence; it’s a direct result of the disastrous policy direction.

And Biden’s latest brainwave? Announcing an immigration amnesty program that expands DACA and fast-tracks citizenship for illegal immigrants who’ve been married to U.S. citizens for over a decade. Clem thinks this move is all about scoring cheap political points and warns it sends a dangerous message, practically rolling out a welcome mat for even more illegal entries. Clem’s wisdom shines here—he points out that this pattern of welcoming more migrants started under Obama and DACA.

The numbers don’t lie. Since Biden took the reins, total migrant encounters at the southern border have soared past 9.57 million. Clem argues that Michigan’s northern border position and high rates of human trafficking make it extremely vulnerable. Plus, while having a large immigrant population sounds great, it also means the state is a magnet for illegal entrants. Clem stresses the real concern: those who sneak in successfully and remain unaccounted for, roughly 1.8 million “got-aways.” Who are these people? Nobody knows, and that’s frightening.

This isn’t just Clem’s concern. Officials fear potential terrorist attacks, prompting Republican senators to demand a border terrorism hearing. Clem admits these fears aren’t far-fetched. In reality, over 300 people on the Terrorist Screening Database have been caught in the last few years. Recently, eight Tajikistani nationals with ISIS-K ties entered illegally and were released. This isn’t a conspiracy theory; it’s a horrifying reality.

Clem’s solution? It’s rather simple yet entirely logical. Start by reinforcing border walls and leveraging advanced technology. The immigration system should focus on attracting talent that benefits America. Clear, predictable rules need to be established and enforced, encouraging legal routes and penalizing those exploiting the system. And finally, the Department of Homeland Security must become far more transparent. After all, the American people deserve to know who is coming into their country and for what reasons.

In Washington D.C., the Biden administration seems too preoccupied with appeasing its leftist base to care about the impending disaster at the border and the serious national security risks it poses. It’s high time they woke up to the deepening crisis they’ve created.
