Sen. Mullin Blasts Left’s Scapegoating, Defends Families and Security

Sen. Markwayne Mullin sat down with Lara Trump on My View to lay out a commonsense, no-nonsense defense of American families and national security. Mullin didn’t come to pander; he came to call out the chaos we’re living with and to urge citizens to wake up and protect what’s theirs.

On the subject of rising gun violence, Mullin cut through the prefab responses from the left and labeled radicalization as a real public-health problem that too many refuse to confront. He argued that mental illness, cultural decay, and failed policy—not law-abiding gun owners—are the true drivers of carnage, and he encouraged sensible self-defense measures for Americans fed up with being the targets of crime.

Mullin was especially blunt about the political theater that follows every tragedy: the first thing the Left wants to do is find a scapegoat instead of fixing the problem. That’s predictable and pathetic — Democrats use grief to advance disarmament and expand government control while ordinary citizens suffer, and Republicans who actually defend liberty must keep reminding people who the real enemy is.

When the conversation turned to national security, Mullin defended the administration’s hard-nosed approach to narco-terrorism at sea and made clear the goal is to protect American lives, not to plant a flag in Caracas. He reiterated that the president has been clear about not committing U.S. ground troops to Venezuela while supporting aggressive interdiction of drug-running vessels that threaten our streets.

Those operations have been controversial, and critics on the left howl about collateral damage even as the cartels and terrorist-adjacent networks keep flooding fentanyl across the border. The strikes and interdictions, which the administration says are aimed at narcoterrorists and smuggling networks, have stopped enormous flows of poison headed for our kids — and yes, they have created hard choices and international pushback that must be met with resolve.

Americans who still believe in law and order should be grateful to hear a senator speak plainly: stop letting the Left rewrite every disaster into a policy plank and start taking responsibility for your family’s safety. Mullin’s message is a reminder that liberty requires courage, and that the conservative answer to crime, chaos, and foreign threats is strength at home, accountability abroad, and the God-given right to protect one’s own.
