In a bold move that left many leftists clutching their pearls, former Honduran President Juan Orlando Hernandez walked out of a U.S. prison after receiving a well-deserved pardon from President Trump. Convicted of drug trafficking charges, Hernandez’s release is an eye-opener in these times when justice is often shackled by globalist interests more concerned with virtue-signaling than actual progress.
This pardon should be a wake-up call to those enamored with weak, global policies. The kind of leniency Hernandez received would have been unthinkable under the current liberal administration, obsessed with vilifying anyone not in line with their ideological straightjacket! Hernandez was a leader who faced enormous pressure from forces intent on thwarting his commitment to fighting crime. Yet the global elite would rather see someone like him rot in prison. How convenient for them! It’s easy to declare moral superiority when you’re thousands of miles away from the chaos these leaders face at home. The left climbs its shaky moral ladder, blind to the fact that essential partnerships in fighting global crime are being dismantled.
The same liberals who screech about foreign interference in domestic policies suddenly forget their own principles when it comes to other countries. Where is the outrage over other leaders who’ve committed far worse and are still sipping champagne with so-called world leaders? This is classic hypocrisy from a group that loves to point fingers and ignore their own glaring flaws.
Trump’s decision to pardon Hernandez will not erase crime overnight, but it’s a step toward pulling this country away from interference masquerading as diplomacy. So, I ask, when will the left learn that their virtue politics isn’t helping anyone but themselves?
