New York City’s mayoral race has turned into a complete disaster for the liberal establishment. Socialist Zohran Mamdani shocked everyone by beating disgraced former governor Andrew Cuomo in the Democratic primary back in June. Now the Democrats are stuck with a radical leftist who wants to destroy what’s left of America’s greatest city.
The political elites never saw this coming. Cuomo had all the big money backing him, including millions from former mayor Michael Bloomberg. But regular New Yorkers are so fed up with failed liberal policies that they picked the most extreme candidate possible.
Meanwhile, Eric Adams is running as an independent after corruption charges forced him to abandon the Democratic Party. Adams may be a Democrat at heart, but even he knows his own party has gone completely insane. The man who once promised to fight crime is now the moderate choice in this race.
This whole mess shows how far left the Democratic Party has moved. When a socialist wins their primary in America’s biggest city, you know the party has lost its mind. Mamdani gets his marching orders from Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez and Bernie Sanders, two of the most dangerous politicians in Washington.
Curtis Sliwa represents the only real conservative choice for New York voters. The Republican candidate survived an assassination attempt by the mob and has spent decades fighting crime on the streets. While his opponents talk about defunding police, Sliwa actually puts his life on the line to protect innocent people.
President Trump won 30 percent of the vote in New York City last year, the best showing for a Republican since 1988. This proves that even liberal New Yorkers are waking up to the failures of Democratic leadership. Crime is out of control, people are fleeing the city, and illegal immigrants are draining city resources.
The mainstream media keeps calling this race unusual, but there’s nothing unusual about Americans rejecting socialism. New Yorkers have seen what happens when radicals take over their neighborhoods. They’ve watched their city become less safe and less affordable under liberal rule.
This November will be a test of whether New York City wants to become another failed socialist experiment or return to common sense leadership. The choice couldn’t be clearer between American values and the radical left agenda that’s destroying our cities from within.
