In a sneaky move on a Friday night, Special Counsel Jack Smith filed a motion earlier this week seeking a gag order against our former President, Donald Trump. This motion was finally revealed by U.S. District Court Judge Tanya Chutkan, who’s overseeing Smith’s flimsy case against Trump for January 6th.
According to POLITICO, the government’s request claims that Trump is making “disparaging and inflammatory attacks” on the prosecutors, witnesses, and even the judge herself, which they say is undermining the fairness of the trial. Oh please, give us a break! It’s clear this is just another attempt to silence the voices of conservatives and keep them from speaking out against the witch hunt that has been going on for way too long.
The motion is asking Judge Chutkan to limit what Trump can say about the DOJ prosecutors, the FBI, Chutkan herself, former Vice President Mike Pence, former Attorney General Bill Barr, and the list goes on. Are they serious? Do they really think they can just gag a former President and silence him? Sorry, but that’s not how our Constitution works. Trump has every right to defend himself and speak out against this corrupt and biased trial.
Luckily, Judge Chutkan hasn’t granted Smith’s request yet. Trump’s legal team also had the audacity to request that Chutkan be removed from the case after she made her anti-Trump remarks during the January 6th trials. It’s about time someone questioned her impartiality!
Let’s hope that our justice system prevails and that Trump is able to exercise his right to speak freely. It’s time to put an end to this farce of a trial and focus on the real issues facing our country.
