The Supreme Court’s move to yank race-conscious admissions off the table is the long-overdue restoration of colorblind law that hardworking Americans have been demanding. For too long universities hid behind “diversity” to reward identity instead of effort, and the Court finally said what freedom-loving citizens know: the Constitution protects individuals, not racial preferences.
Predictably, the usual crowd of professional grievance merchants — the Black liberal elites who built careers on victimhood — are apoplectic. Their shrieks about “rollback” and “segregation” are nothing more than performative fury; they would rather keep the racket going than see real, merit-based opportunity spread to all Americans.
The fight didn’t stop with the court. The new administration has been busy undoing the federal machinery that fed the DEI swamp, issuing orders to strip taxpayer-funded programs of their race-first hiring mandates and forcing institutions to choose merit over race. This is commonsense governance: when the law changes, policy should follow and federal contractors should no longer be conscripted into running race-preference schemes.
At the Justice Department, policy followed logic — the department moved to end the disparate-impact enforcement standard that had let bureaucrats weaponize statistics to force outcomes instead of proving discrimination. That change level-sets the playing field and shuts down a backdoor that turned innocent disparities into automatic guilt for employers and schools. Americans who believe in fairness should celebrate a system that looks for intent and facts, not convenient math.
Even our military institutions are following suit, and that matters. The Naval Academy and other service academies have quietly stopped considering race in admissions, a correction that restores trust in our officer corps and says we will choose leaders for ability and character, not skin tone. If you want a strong, ready military, you choose the best people the nation produces, period.
Colleges are recalibrating too — several elite schools are bringing back standardized testing and retooling admissions to focus on achievement and potential rather than identity politics. That shift will help talented students from modest backgrounds shine on merit, not just on an applicant’s racial checkbox or family connections. This is how America grows: by rewarding effort and investing in people who prove they can compete.
Let the left rage. Real patriots know that equality under the law means treating each person as an individual, not a walking demographic label. This country was built on the promise that a hardworking kid with grit can rise, and today’s legal and policy corrections move us back toward that promise — louder, prouder, and more determined than the hollers of those who profit from perpetual grievance.
