Texas Democrats just pulled off one of the most shameless political stunts in recent memory. These cowards abandoned their jobs and fled the state like criminals on the run. They claim they are protecting democracy, but they are really just protecting their own power.
The Democrats ran away to Illinois to hide from a fair redistricting vote. Texas gained population and deserves more Republican seats in Congress. But the Democrats would rather abandon their duties than let the people be properly represented.
Here is the biggest joke of all. These Democrats fled to Illinois, one of the most gerrymandered states in America. Illinois Democrats rigged their own maps to give themselves 14 seats and Republicans only 3. The hypocrisy is absolutely stunning.
Liberal law professor Jonathan Turley called out this ridiculous double standard. He pointed out how Democrats are crying about fair maps while hiding in a state with completely unfair maps. Even Turley, who is no conservative, can see through their lies.
Governor Pritzker welcomed these runaway Democrats with open arms. He called Texas Republicans cheaters while his own state has some of the worst gerrymandering in the country. This is what Democrats always do – accuse others of exactly what they are guilty of doing.
Senator John Cornyn asked the FBI to track down these missing lawmakers. They are getting paid by taxpayers to do a job, not to take luxury vacations in Chicago hotels. If they do not want to represent their voters, they should resign and go home.
The Texas Senate already passed the new maps anyway. Two Democrats stayed behind and allowed the vote to happen. Now the House Democrats look even more foolish for running away for nothing.
This whole circus shows exactly what is wrong with today’s Democratic Party. They talk about democracy but run away when votes do not go their way. Real leaders stay and fight, but these Democrats are nothing but political cowards.
