Another senseless attack has rocked our nation. On Wednesday morning, a deranged gunman opened fire during morning mass at Annunciation Catholic School in Minneapolis. Two innocent children, ages 8 and 10, lost their lives while 17 others were wounded.
The shooter has been identified as 23-year-old Robin Westman. This disturbed individual posted sick manifesto videos online before carrying out this evil act. Westman then took the coward’s way out, ending their own life in the church parking lot.
What makes this tragedy even more twisted is the connection to the church itself. Westman’s own mother worked at Annunciation for five years before retiring in 2021. This monster violated a sacred place where their family once had ties. The betrayal cuts deep for this faith community.
Law enforcement found detailed plans including a handwritten sketch of the church layout. Westman’s online videos showed extreme violent thoughts and a sick obsession with harming innocent people. This was not a random act but a calculated attack on defenseless children and families at prayer.
Once again, social media platforms failed to stop dangerous content from spreading. YouTube allowed this killer to post manifesto videos before the attack. Big Tech companies must be held accountable for giving evil people a platform to spread their twisted messages.
Our churches and schools have become targets for mentally unstable individuals seeking notoriety. These sacred spaces where families gather to worship and children learn should be the safest places in America. Instead, they have become hunting grounds for sick predators.
We must demand better protection for our most vulnerable citizens. Armed security at schools and churches is no longer optional but necessary. Our children deserve to pray and learn without fear of violence from deranged killers who have lost all sense of right and wrong.
The families of these murdered children will never be the same. While politicians offer empty thoughts and prayers, real Americans know we need action to protect innocent lives. This evil cannot be allowed to continue destroying our communities and stealing our children’s futures.
