In a bold move reminiscent of a superhero swooping in to save the day, the Trump administration is ramping up its efforts to remove illegal migrants from the United States on a scale not seen before. Daily operations are now netting hundreds of these unwelcome guests, as the administration fulfills a key promise made during the campaign. This isn’t just business as usual; it’s “Operation Get Out,” and it’s gaining momentum faster than a freight train on a downhill slope.
On a particularly eventful Thursday, the administration bagged a staggering 538 illegal migrant criminals, with deportation flights already taking off, courtesy of military aircraft. Among those apprehended was a suspected terrorist and four members of a notorious Venezuelan gang, Tren de Aragua, not to mention several individuals with serious convictions related to sex crimes against children. It appears the administration is serious about cleaning house, and for many, this is a case of “good riddance.”

A key figure in this operation, Border Czar Tom Homan, revealed that about 1,300 migrants have been detained so far, and more than 1,000 of them had criminal records. The Immigration and Customs Enforcement agency, affectionately known as ICE, is also getting in on the action with 373 detainer requests on the table. This means local law enforcement is expected to hold these migrants until ICE can step in. Local police departments might want to keep a running list because this is just the beginning.
The strategy started right at the top, with President Trump swiftly signing an executive order upon taking office that declared a national emergency at the southern border. This order opened the floodgates for the administration to deploy military resources to address the border crisis, a situation that, many argue, was exacerbated by the previous administration’s leniency. So it’s no surprise that the Department of Defense is now involved in deportation efforts, turning the southern border into a high-stakes reality show.
In a notable policy shift, the administration has removed restrictions preventing ICE from conducting enforcement operations in so-called “sensitive locations” like schools and hospitals. This could be a game changer, allowing ICE agents to operate without the handcuffs that have historically restricted their movements. Additionally, expedited removal has expanded dramatically—now extending anywhere within the U.S., rather than just 100 miles from the border. That’s right, there’s no escaping this enforcement train.
As the administration gears up to empower ICE, federal agencies are joining forces to ensure a one-two punch against illegal immigration. The Department of Justice is tackling sanctuary cities head-on, launching the Sanctuary Cities Enforcement Working Group to identify and confront state and local laws that conflict with federal immigration policies. It’s clear that those obstructing ICE will face the consequences—Homan has made it clear that they will be taken to court soon enough. Federal law reigns supreme, and local jurisdictions will have to deal with the reality that it’s going to be a long legal battle if they dare stand in the way of immigration enforcement.
