According to recent polls, former President Donald Trump is still leading in the Republican Party’s presidential primary race by a large margin. However, this hasn’t stopped him from receiving criticism from one of his former executives, ex-Vice President Mike Pence.
Most recently, Pence expressed his concerns about Trump’s endorsement of certain candidates during last year’s midterm elections. One of these candidates was Dr. Mehmet Oz, a former reality TV star who ran for the Senate in Pennsylvania and ultimately lost to John Fetterman, who suffered a stoke.

David McCormick, a hedge fund manager and former Treasury Department employee under President George W. Bush’s administration, was Oz’s primary opponent. After his loss, McCormick wrote a book in which he accused Trump of allegedly pressuring him to say that the 2020 presidential election was stolen before endorsing Oz.
Trump initially blamed Republican candidates’ losses in the midterms on their extreme stance on abortion, but Pence was quick to disagree. He stated that the party’s commitment to the “right to life” was the center of their administration and that those candidates who had a balance of “principle and compassion” on the issue did well.
While Trump continues to face criticism, his base remains strong, proving that his legacy is still a driving force in the Republican Party.
