Former President Donald Trump has called for Congress to defund the Department of Justice (DOJ) and the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) after his arraignment in Manhattan. Trump accused the Democrats of using the FBI and the DOJ as political weapons against him to interfere with the election. He urged Republicans to defund the DOJ and FBI until they “come to their senses.” The indictment filed against him yesterday is being called unfair and morally disgusting, but almost every legal and political analyst has declared that it has no merit and is not even a case.

Trump had been indicted for allegedly falsifying business records related to a $130,000 hush-money payment directed by him to adult film actress Stormy Daniels ahead of the 2016 presidential election. Despite pleading not guilty to 34 counts, he claimed that the statute of limitations had been violated by many years, and he seems confident that he will emerge victorious.
After facing the arraignment, he also delivered a primetime speech about his legal troubles from Mar-a-Lago estate in Florida. Trump is being investigated by the Special Counsel Jack Smith for allegedly mishandling classified documents, and he is also facing allegations of playing a role in the Capitol riots on January 6, 2021. Additionally, he is under investigation by a special grand jury in Georgia for his alleged role in overturning the 2020 presidential election results in Georgia.
It’s no secret that Trump has been the target of the Democrats’ relentless attacks ever since he won the 2016 presidential election. The indictment filed against him is another example of how the opposition party is trying to discredit him. The fact that he has been indicted on charges related to a payment eight years ago that was related to a consensual adult encounter is an absurdity. It’s clear that the Democrats are looking for any possible opportunity to bring down Trump, but their efforts are likely to fail.
