The President made it clear that if certain cities, such as Chicago, do not clamp down on crime themselves, he is willing to extend federal assistance there too.
Thanks to increased federal presence, crime in the nation’s capital has plummeted. D.C. has seen a notable surge in arrests, including many gang members, and has significantly reduced the number of homeless encampments lining its sidewalks. This has led to a revitalization of public spaces that were once plagued by fear and chaos, making it possible for families to enjoy the city again. One lawmaker even reflected on the pleasures of a cleaner, safer Union Station, a place that had seen better days prior to this federal initiative. Yet, not everyone is on board with this federal approach.
