Trump Orders Probe on Critics Miles Taylor, Chris Krebs for Leaks

President Trump is back in the headlines once again, this time for issuing an executive order that has raised eyebrows all around D.C. The order directs the Justice Department to take a closer look at two critics from his first administration, Miles Taylor and Chris Krebs, who’ve seemingly made it their mission to undermine Trump’s accomplishments. Evidently, their disdain has led to this well-deserved investigation into their conduct, including potential leaks of classified materials.

Miles Taylor, a former chief of staff at the Department of Homeland Security, is perhaps best known for his anonymous Op-Ed in The New York Times that accused Trump of being “impetuous, adversarial, petty and ineffective.” This politically-charged piece set off a wild goose chase around Washington in an attempt to unveil the identity of the cowardly critic. In a twist of irony, this self-proclaimed patriot turned around and penned a book titled “A Warning,” in which he portrayed Trump as “undisciplined” and “amoral.” If anyone deserves a little scrutiny, it’s hard to argue Taylor isn’t at the top of that list.

Interestingly, Trump wasted no time brushing off Taylor’s credibility, referring to him as someone who wrote a book full of “lies” — a traitor in disguise. If ever there were a textbook example of biting the hand that feeds you, it’s certainly this. The former president’s dismissal of Taylor serves to reinforce the idea that those who turn on their leader should prepare for the consequences.

Then there’s Chris Krebs, who seems to have taken it upon himself to guarantee the integrity of the 2020 election in a manner that could only be described as one part misinformation and two parts political theater. Krebs led the Cybersecurity and Infrastructure Security Agency (CISA), where he promoted the idea that the 2020 election was “the most secure in American history.” In fact, he was the mastermind behind a “Rumor Control” website designed to discredit any claims of election fraud that the Trump campaign put forth. Not surprisingly, this failed to sit well with Trump, who has made it clear that he believes otherwise.

Trump has made his thoughts on Krebs apparent too, labeling him a “wise guy.” The former president pointed out numerous examples that he claims demonstrate the 2020 election was, in fact, anything but secure. While Krebs may have declared the election safe and sound, Trump’s insistence on pursuing the truth stands as a reminder that not all is as it appears, especially when D.C. insiders are involved.

In a time when political weaponization seems to be the norm, this executive order serves as a message: swamp creatures like Taylor and Krebs are being put on notice. For those who have chosen to turn against Trump while hiding behind a veil of public service, the consequence may soon be the light of day shining on their illicit activities. It’s about time someone called out the hyenas in the political jungle, and Trump isn’t one to shy away from the fight.
