Trump Promises to Solve Ukraine Conflict in One Day If Reelected in 2024

Former President Donald Trump, in an interview with Sean Hannity on Fox News, promised to end the war in Ukraine within 24 hours if elected for a second term in 2024. He stated that it would be an “easy negotiation,” emphasizing that “The key is the war has to stop now because Ukraine is being obliterated.” These words come one year after Russia invaded Ukraine, targeting Ukrainian infrastructure, as stated by The Hill.

Trump believes that he can solve the issue in a day by talking with Zelensky and Putin. He acknowledged that the conflict has lasted for quite some time- one and a half years. Meanwhile, the International Criminal Court issued a warrant on March 17 against Russian President Vladimir Putin, accusing him of war crimes. The warrant is for the unlawful deportation and transfer of populations from occupied parts of Ukraine to the Russian Federation.

Ukraine considered Putin’s decision to place nuclear weapons in Belarus as a nuclear threat to their country. During the interview, Hannity questioned whether Trump desires a negotiated settlement if he became president. Trump replied that he would indeed have a “negotiated settlement” within 24 hours if he returns to the White House, as stated by The Hill.

It is evident that Trump has a plan to restore peace to Ukraine, unlike Biden’s administration, which has appeared complacent and weak towards the issue. Trump’s message makes sense, especially with the looming threats posed by China and Russia. The former president is confident that he will make the right decisions, and his track record increasingly proves that. With his promise to resolve the conflict between Ukraine and Russia, Trump continues to earn the support and trust of many conservative Republicans.
