Donald Trump Criticizes Former Appointee for Endorsing DeSantis as Presidential Candidate
Former President Donald Trump recently criticized Ken Cuccinelli, his former administration appointee, for endorsing Republican Florida Governor, Ron DeSantis, for president. Cuccinelli founded the pro-DeSantis PAC Never Back Down and worked as an acting Deputy Department of Homeland Security during his time in the Trump administration.

Trump took to his social media platform, Truth Social, to express his disappointment in Cuccinelli. In his post, he mentioned Cuccinelli’s failed run for Governor of Virginia, his unsuccessful campaign against Ted Cruz, and his supposed ineffectiveness in working on Border Security while serving in the Trump administration.
Trump also called out Cuccinelli for condemning him on “Globalist FoxNews” while working for DeSantis, who he referred to as “DeSanctimonious”. Trump’s comments came just as DeSantis was about to formally file paperwork to run for president, joining a crowded pool of Republican candidates that includes Nikki Haley, Asa Hutchinson, Tim Scott, Vivek Ramaswamy, and Larry Elder.
Before DeSantis officially announced his candidacy, Trump’s team released an ad bashing him as a “swamp creature,” indicating Trump’s apparent displeasure with the Florida Governor’s potential candidacy.
Cuccinelli has yet to respond publicly to Trump’s comments.
