Fox News contributor Liz Peek was right to point out the irony: while the nation’s institutions sputter, Mr. Trump is “racking them up” overseas — deals, commitments, and renewed alliances — the kind of tangible wins that actually protect American interests. This is the difference between doing the work of office and the Washington way of endless press releases and investigations. If Democrats and some in the press spent half as much energy fixing problems as they do attacking the president, Americans would be better off.

Patriotic Americans should demand that Republican members of Congress stop accepting this shutdown as normal and force a resolution that protects taxpayers and funds our military. At the same time, voters should recognize and reward a leader who gets deals done and puts America first on the world stage. The message is simple: produce results or be replaced by someone who will.
