President Trump is back and unafraid to make waves. He’s delivering on his campaign promise to purge Washington of left-wing ideologues—something his predecessors merely paid lip service to. Trump’s decisive action to remove Carla Hayden from her position as Librarian of Congress has sent shockwaves through the Beltway, and it’s about time.
Hayden, appointed by President Obama, has been a darling of the far-left, pushing materials and ideas that don’t align with the values of hard-working Americans. Claims have surfaced that she was endorsing far-left literary propaganda and pushing the kind of “woke” ideology that’s all too familiar in today’s cultural battlegrounds. Conservatives are tired of seeing these elite insiders promoting anti-American ideologies, and Trump’s removal of Hayden shows he’s more than willing to take the necessary steps to protect American culture and heritage.
But wait, it gets better. Trump also removed Shira Perlmutter, head of the U.S. Copyright Office. Perlmutter, another figure who’s been a part of the bureaucratic establishment for too long, was thrown out of her entrenched position. The usual liberal suspects are, of course, losing their minds over this. And why wouldn’t they? Morelle, a New York Democrat, predictably cried “power grab” and went on to lionize Perlmutter’s tenure. But let’s be honest—the Democrats are just upset because their stranglehold over cultural institutions is being pried open.
Predictably, the left decries these firings as chaotic, but this is what draining the swamp looks like. It’s time the American people had institutions that truly represent their values. The liberal elite may kick and scream, but the message is clear: America is moving away from the corrosive grip of the woke left. President Trump is signaling to everyone that no position is safe if it’s occupied by someone undermining American greatness. Can anyone say it’s time we had more of this kind of action in D.C.?
