As protests in Iran violently erupt, the world watches as the regime cracks down on its own people. Citizens brave enough to stand against this tyrannical government face tyranny and brutality. The violent suppression has resulted in nearly 500 deaths and thousands of arrests. This is an urgent moment for President Donald Trump. He vowed to punish Iran if its rulers resorted to violence against peaceful protesters, and now is the time to follow through.
The left has a feckless foreign policy. President Trump, however, has several non-military options to respond effectively without putting American lives at risk. The Iranian regime is feeling the heat from its own oppressed people, and the U.S. must capitalize on this moment. By allowing communications to flow freely, the Trump administration can expose the regime’s brutality to the world. The public must see the violence, and with tech solutions, such as Elon Musk’s Starlink, this can become a reality.

Moreover, the U.S. should consider options that hit the regime where it hurts: its finances. The Iranian state’s illicit oil trade, known as the “shadow fleet,” continues to fund its oppressive activities. Seizing these oil tankers would send a strong message. It’s a proven tactic that worked against Venezuela. Why not apply similar pressure on Iran? It’s time to show the mullahs that their actions have consequences.
Iran is not just a threat to its own citizens, but to stability in the region and beyond. Its nuclear program has always been a cause for concern, and Trump remains resolute that a nuclear-armed Iran is unacceptable. The regime’s hostile history only emphasizes this point. Unlike the weak and wishy-washy policies of previous administrations, a strong stance and decisive action are necessary now more than ever to prevent a regime that is both brutal and fanatical from gaining even more power.
As Trump considers his options, one has to wonder: Will he act boldly to affirm our commitment to freedom, or will he follow the slippery slope of appeasement that the left has so often embraced? The choice is clear. Stand with the oppressed or cower before tyranny. America must reaffirm its strength on the global stage, and the time is right to make a decisive move against this evil regime in Iran. It’s time to show the world what true leadership looks like.
