President Trump made the right call when he sent 800 National Guard troops to Washington D.C. in August. The nation’s capital had become a crime-ridden disaster under liberal leadership. Trump declared a crime emergency and promised to make the streets safe again.
The numbers don’t lie. Crime data shows violent crime has dropped in areas where our brave National Guard soldiers are stationed. These troops are working alongside federal agents and local police to take dangerous criminals off the streets. About 200 guardsmen patrol at a time as part of the Safe and Beautiful Task Force.
Liberal politicians are throwing a tantrum over this common-sense solution. The D.C. Attorney General is even suing to stop the deployment. A activist judge also ruled against keeping our troops there to protect innocent Americans.
This is exactly what’s wrong with today’s Democrat Party. They care more about politics than protecting families and children from violent criminals. They would rather see chaos in our streets than admit Trump’s tough approach works.
The Pentagon knows this mission is critical for our nation’s capital. Defense officials say there’s no more important job than securing Washington D.C. It’s disgraceful that we allowed our capital city to become so dangerous in the first place.
CBS News confirmed that crime hotspots near Guard deployments had three times more crime than other areas. Gun crimes were nearly twice as high in these troubled neighborhoods. That’s exactly where our troops need to be.
The National Guard deployment has been extended through November 30th. This gives our soldiers more time to help restore law and order to D.C.’s most dangerous areas. President Trump promised to clean up this mess and he’s keeping his word.
Americans deserve safe streets in every city, especially our nation’s capital. While liberals file lawsuits and complain, President Trump is taking real action to protect innocent people. That’s the kind of strong leadership our country needs.
