President Trump made the right call when he took control of Washington DC’s police department this month. Our nation’s capital was drowning in crime and chaos. The liberal politicians running DC clearly couldn’t handle the job.
The numbers don’t lie about how bad things got in our capital city. DC had a murder rate of 27.3 per 100,000 people in 2024. That would make it the deadliest state in America if DC was a state.
Think about how embarrassing this is for our country. Foreign tourists and world leaders visit DC and see more violence than in many war zones. DC’s murder rate is three times higher than Pakistan and 18 times worse than communist Cuba.
The previous administration and DC’s weak leaders let criminals run wild for years. Juvenile arrests kept going up since 2020. Many of these young criminals had already been arrested for violent crimes before.
But President Trump refused to let America’s capital remain a crime-ridden mess. He sent in the National Guard and took control from the failed local politicians. This is exactly the kind of strong leadership America needs.
The early results show Trump’s tough approach is already working. Violent crime has dropped significantly since the federal takeover began. Murders are down 12 percent and robberies fell by 30 percent compared to last year.
Critics in the fake news media don’t want to admit Trump’s success. They spent years making excuses for the crime wave instead of demanding action. Now they’re probably upset that a real leader stepped in to fix their mess.
Every American should feel safe in our nation’s capital. President Trump understands that law and order must come first. His decisive action proves that strong leadership can solve problems that weak politicians ignore for years.
