President Trump’s bold stand at the United Nations has shattered years of anti-American propaganda, marking a turning point in how the world views Cuba’s persistent crisis. For decades, global elites have used the U.N. platform to castigate the United States, blaming the embargo for every hardship faced by the Cuban people. But this year, the tide shifted dramatically, with seven nations—including the U.S.—rejecting the annual resolution condemning the embargo. The message is clear: the world is finally recognizing that Cuba’s suffering is not the fault of American policy, but the result of its own oppressive regime.
The usual suspects lined up to denounce the U.S., but their arguments rang hollow as more countries refused to play along. Argentina, Hungary, Paraguay, North Macedonia, and Ukraine joined the U.S. in voting against the resolution, while twelve others abstained. This growing resistance to the narrative of American blame is a sign that the world is waking up to the truth: Cuba’s problems are homegrown, not imported. The regime’s decades of mismanagement, corruption, and repression have left its people impoverished, while the government continues to deflect responsibility onto the United States.

It’s time to stop blaming America and start holding Cuba’s leaders accountable for their own failures.
Ukraine’s decision to vote against the resolution is especially significant, given Cuba’s support for Russia and its involvement in the ongoing conflict. The presence of Cuban mercenaries in Ukraine underscores the regime’s alignment with authoritarian powers, making it clear why Ukraine would reject any attempt to whitewash Cuba’s actions. This vote is a powerful reminder that standing with Cuba means standing with tyranny, not with the cause of freedom and justice.
America’s unwavering stance at the U.N. sends a strong message to the world: liberty cannot be compromised for the sake of appeasing oppressive regimes.
