On Wednesday, Fox News host Tucker Carlson criticized the media for parroting the United Nations’ recent report on climate change, which he believes is part of China’s plan to hold back the United States economically. Carlson, a co-founder of the Daily Caller News Foundation, proceeded to bash the media for forcing individuals to believe and repeat slogans while ignoring actual news. He then speculated about the kind of news we would be reading if the news media were interested in reporting events that were happening.

The United Nations recently released a 36-page report on climate change, which talks about using cultural values as well as Indigenous Knowledge to fight climate change while advocating for “redistributive policies … that shield the poor and vulnerable, social safety nets, equity, inclusion and just transitions.” Carlson notes that many media outlets repeated the statement made by UN Secretary-General António Guterres, calling the report a “how-to guide to defuse the climate time-bomb.”
The Fox News host is skeptical of the motives behind the climate change plan, as it may just be an exercise by the Chinese government to damage the United States and the West, which he believes is what is currently happening. He notes that China is aggressively building new coal plants and that they don’t seem to care about its impact on the environment. Carlson believes that the U.S. and Europe are the only ones being asked to change, while China does absolutely nothing.
Finally, Carlson worries about the influence of the media’s propagations in preventing the public from understanding what is going on. Carlson argues that people will not have enough room to think about what is actually going on because of the constant bombardment of propaganda that they are exposed to. He challenges the media to focus on what is important and to adjust the narrative.
