Adam Kinzinger, a former congressman turned CNN analyst, recently commented on the ongoing coup attempt in Russia, saying that it is a serious blow to Tucker Carlson and others who have repeated “Putin’s talking points.” The interview occurred after the head of the Wagner group called for an armed rebellion while Wagner contractors surrounded a key military headquarters in Rostov.

Kinzinger stated that the coup attempt will cause instability in Russia, a nation with nuclear weapons, and could lead to a proliferation of arms if the republic continues to fall apart. He adds that this attempt is good for the war in Ukraine because Wagner is out of the fight, and they were a significant part of the effort against the country. Furthermore, he noted that Wagner protects Russian interests all over the world.

The former congressman then criticized Tucker Carlson and other Americans who have been parroting Putin’s talking points. He commented that the coup attempt is a “massive blow” to their credibility because, as the head of Wagner, Yevgeny Prigozhin, stated, many of Putin’s assertions are lies.
Kinzinger further urged the public to hold American commentators who promote these views accountable. He highlighted Carlson’s previous claims that the war in Ukraine was NATO’s fault and that Ukraine deserved it. In doing so, Kinzinger stressed the need to remember that the head of a terrorist organization himself acknowledged that Russia has been lying to its people about the cause of the war in Ukraine.
Last year, Kinzinger called on NATO to establish a no-fly-zone over Ukraine, which would have resulted in NATO forces shooting down Russian aircraft and likely causing World War III.
In summary, the coup attempt marks a significant problem for Putin’s regime and also highlights the need to remain vigilant about those who promote the Russian leader’s views in American politics.
