It seems that Tulsi Gabbard, in her new role as Director of National Intelligence, decided to take the security clearance axe to several prominent former Biden administration officials and the infamous 51 intelligence operatives who boldly declared the Hunter Biden laptop story was a Russian plot. One can only admire how swiftly she acted to restore some semblance of integrity to the intelligence community, especially after that entertaining circus act performed by the so-called experts who couldn’t discern the difference between a laptop and the latest TikTok trend.
In a move that has those still holding onto the dream of a well-functioning government feeling both elated and perhaps a tad giddy, Gabbard announced that security clearances for the likes of Antony Blinken, Jake Sullivan, and a cavalcade of political figures have been revoked. Even the former President, Joe Biden, who hardly seems to be in touch with reality lately, will no longer receive his daily intelligence briefing, presumably because there’s little hope of him comprehending the contents without a cartoon version to accompany it.
Gabbard’s directive, heralded as an echo of a long-overdue house cleaning, came straight from the top, aligned with what many elsewhere have called a much-needed purge. While showing these officials the door may not immediately fix everything in Washington, it certainly draws a line in the sand regarding the misuse of intelligence for political gain. One can only wonder how these former officials feel knowing their opinions were dismissed with a flick of Gabbard’s pen as if they were subpar contestants on a game show.
The backstory to all this is a deliciously ironic twist. Former President Trump, during his initial presidency, signed an executive order that specifically worked to uproot the very individuals who conspired to muddy the waters surrounding the Hunter Biden controversy. Trump painted these signatories as having manipulated intelligence credibility, equating their behavior to that of operatives in “third world countries.” Not surprisingly, the narrative has shifted dramatically since then, with the reality-driven rest of us munching our popcorn as the drama continues to unfurl.
While Blinken didn’t put his name on the disinformation letter, his behind-the-scenes role as a Biden advisor has his fingerprints all over this scandal. The whispers he supposedly set in motion regarding the laptop story can’t help but make one chuckle—so much for the intellectual high ground! Given Gabbard’s firm stance, it seems the only real disinformation now is the fairy tale that these officials can still be trusted with classified information. In a world where common sense takes a backseat to partisan politics, this cleansing action might just be the start of a much-needed reality check for those who thought they were above it all.
