The U.S. Women’s Olympic Hockey Team just made headlines – and not in a good way. After winning gold, President Trump offered them the ultimate American honor: an invite to his State of the Union address, complete with military transport. For most teams, this would be a major moment. Apparently, for this group, it’s just not worth their time.
Their so-called “spokesman” tossed out some hand-waving about pre-existing “academic” and “professional” obligations. Right. Because there’s nothing more important than attending one of the highest honors you can get as an American athlete. The excuse sounds about as believable as your average campaign promise from a Democrat.

Let’s get real. Everyone knows the Left dreams of any public snub against President Trump. The women’s team bent over backwards to avoid admitting their decision was political, but liberals couldn’t help themselves. The talking heads were out in full force, probably popping champagne and acting like skipping the State of the Union is bravery. Funny—when leftist athletes make political stunts, we’re told it’s “speaking truth to power.” When a team shows some patriotism, the mob demands their careers.
And speaking of hypocrisy, these same critics would be tripping over themselves if the team had gotten an invite from Obama, Biden, or any globalist darling. There would be wall-to-wall fawning coverage, all about “empowerment” and “breaking barriers.” Instead, with Trump, it’s awkward excuses and a hastily written thank-you note. Does anyone buy for a second that this wasn’t politics?
Americans know what’s really behind this move. It’s political theater, dressed up as “prior obligations.” The radical Left can clutch their pearls all they want, but the quiet part is obvious: the war on patriotism is alive and well, even in women’s sports. So here’s the real question—if representing America on the world stage doesn’t matter to our athletes, what does?
