In recent years, wealthy Democrats have been pouring immense amounts of money into various causes in order to shift the political landscape to their own advantage. Some of these partisan donors, such as George Soros, are openly pushing far-left propaganda in an effort to bring about what they deem to be progressive change. Soros alone has funneled tens of billions of dollars through opaque, dark money conduits to support the Democratic Party, the same party that continually aims to dismantle fundamental American values and institutions.
Soft-on-crime district attorneys benefit from Soros’s largesse, which has led to the country’s ongoing crime issues. Soros is not alone in his desire to influence political issues. Other mega-donors have popped up as we head into the 2024 presidential elections. They are using their vast resources to shape the narrative around so-called “right-wing disinformation.” For example, John Arnold, founder of Arnold Ventures, launched a network of nonprofits and LLCs that give primarily to left-leaning organizations. The LLC structure is advantageous since it doesn’t require disclosure to reveal funding sources, grants, and revenues. The transformed Arnold Ventures has pledged to wield its spending clout to influence elections and legislation without bothering to be transparent about it.

Meanwhile, Eric Kessler has spent hundreds of millions of dollars on liberal groups, including Demand Justice, which unleashed a torrent of vitriol against former U.S. Supreme Court Justice Brett Kavanaugh. Kessler’s Arabella Advisors functioned as the so-called fiscal sponsor to a litany of other left-wing nonprofits. This maneuver allowed them to avoid filing taxes with the IRS, among other things, and positioned themselves to influence U.S. elections and public policy with little to no disclosure of donors or financial backers.
Swiss billionaire Hansjörg Wyss certainly isn’t a U.S. citizen, but that hasn’t stopped him from working quietly behind the scenes to push his preferred agenda on Americans. The Biden-Harris administration has already taken full advantage of Wyss’s wealth, with the donor sending millions of dollars to the likes of Nancy Pelosi and Stacey Abrams, among others. Additionally, data mining projects launched by Wyss during the 2022 midterms were aimed at finding and mobilizing pro-Biden voters while simultaneously discrediting conservative beliefs.
As we head into the 2024 election year, it is clear that those with the deepest pockets will have a say in how things will go. The Democrats continue to rely on the steady flow of dark money coming in from their wealthy benefactors. Meanwhile, former President Trump and Governor Ron DeSantis are expected to mount Republican challenges to President Joe Biden. With vast resources at their disposal, the left is poised to fight for their version of progressivism even harder in the coming months.
