According to reports, the situation escalated when Biden granted a sweeping pardon for Hunter, who recently found himself on the wrong side of the law with federal tax and gun charges. Preceding this act, the President had publicly stated that he would not issue a pardon, but it seems those promises evaporated quicker than last week’s leftovers. When pressed about the backlash, Jean-Pierre conjured a poll, declaring that a significant 64% of Americans were on board with the pardon. One would think the White House Press Secretary would double-check her facts before tossing around such bold claims.

However, Fox News stepped in to put the record straight, reporting that Jean-Pierre misidentified the source of her supposed poll, calling it a U.S. Gov poll—an organization that, fun fact, doesn’t even exist. The actual survey originated from YouGov, where it turns out a mere 34% of Americans supported the pardon, while a solid 50% disapproved. In other words, it appears Jean-Pierre read the room incorrectly, or perhaps she confused the numbers while staring at a particularly confusing bingo card.
Jean-Pierre’s antics raise eyebrows not just for their outrageousness but also for the sheer audacity of claiming public support for a decision that seems to be widely criticized. It’s hard to fathom how the administration thought the American public would rally behind a pardon for a man who has been embroiled in federal felony convictions while juggling a cloud of allegations ranging from drug use to tax evasion. Yet, here we are. It’s almost like they think the American people are too distracted by the latest TikTok trends to notice when they’re being fed a platter of nonsense.
As the chaos continues, one has to wonder where this administration’s grasp of reality went astray. One can safely surmise that in the hallowed halls of the White House, truth is a flexible concept, and facts are merely suggestions. Perhaps it’s time for the Biden administration to consult a new polling service—one that at least remembers to check their facts and understands that Americans aren’t buying what they’re selling.
